Our first number
With this number the Courier makes its bow to the people of Ellery and the country around it. We have come to stay. A town with an elevator, two stores, a school and a bank is a town that wants a newspaper, and we mean to print all the news of it every Thursday, without fear and without favor.
We ask only that the people of Ellery send in their news. If your cousin visits from Fargo, if the hail takes your oats, if there is a dance at the schoolhouse, tell the editor. It is your paper.
C. A. Bjornstad, editor and proprietor.

A bakery for Ellery
Gust Lindahl has rented the front of the Odegaard building on Main Street and will open a bakery there the first of next week. Mr. Lindahl was a baker in Minneapolis for six years before he filed on his claim north of town. Bread, rolls and pies will be on hand every morning but Sunday, and Mrs. Lindahl will take orders for cakes.

Lots selling fast
Eleven lots on Main and First Street changed hands this week. The townsite company reports that every corner lot on Main is now spoken for, and that a hardware store and a livery barn will go up before fall.
