School closed for the influenza
On orders of the county health officer, the Ellery school, both churches and the pool hall are closed until further notice on account of the Spanish influenza. Public gatherings of every kind are forbidden. There are nine cases in town and more in the country north of the tracks.
Families with the sickness in the house are asked to hang a card in the window so the neighbors may leave groceries at the door.

Ellery over the top
The Fourth Liberty Loan committee reports that Ellery and its trade territory have subscribed $14,300, well over the quota set for us. The committee thanks every family that bought a bond.
